About Not From Bolton

A Little Background

In my previous existence before entering the world of business I was a critical care nurse, I did this  for over ten years. This was a role that exposed me to the extremes of the human experience on a daily basis. It took place in an environment that was heavily reliant on the latest medical technology. This was technology that constantly changed as advances in science delivered new ways to keep people alive for longer.

To be effective in this place you had to learn to look beyond the constant streams of data being delivered to you by the machines and connect with the person it was all attached to.  As you progress in this environment your responsibilities grow, you have to teach, guide and mentor those around you so that your team can function effectively working towards the goals of the unit. These goals were simple on a broad level but many complicated issues needed to be managed on a macro level.  This had to be done whilst never losing focus of the reason you were there, the patients.

So where does all this fit into Social Media ?

For me social media is exactly the same approach. Between both of us now lies a vast swathe of technology and applications. We really don’t need to understand how it works it just does but what we do need to appreciate is that much like the patients in critical care, behind all the data and information are real people with feelings emotions and desires. To use social media effectively you have to learn to look beyond the applications in front of you and reach out to connect with the people on the other side. Getting you and your business to the point at which it can use these applications effectively is what I do well.

I do this by drawing on my experience in my previous life to train, mentor and guide you and your team so you have the capability to deliver powerful social media strategies. Strategies that provide tangible measurable results.

I used to do life support, now I do business support
